Extra Stage

Stage 1

• Even though there is no bonus stage on Stage 1, you do need to fly through the split mountain, then both split mountains on Stage 4 to get the Stage 4 hidden stage.

Stage 2

• The first bonus stage is accessed by flying backwards into the section indicated.

Stage 3

• The second bonus stage is accessed by flying between the 2nd set of Moai facing away from each other.

Stage 4

• The third bonus stage is accessed by flying through the split mountain on Stage 1 then both split mountains on Stage 4.

Stage 5

• The final bonus stage is accessed by flying into this spot next to the boss.

Game Ending

• When you complete the game you will only see the bad ending.

But if you insert the RC751 GRADIUS 2 cartridge into SLOT2

• You get an extra stage so you can defeat Venom and finish the game for the good ending.

Gradius 2

If you insert both RC 751: Gradius 2 and one of these you get different results:-

Hidden command RC 746 Q-Bert is inserted in SLOT2, then press F1 to pause the game, type the password, press ENTER and F1 to resume the game.

Full Power Up

Makes you invulnerable for 45 seconds (only to bullets not the ground)

RC 749: The Maze of Galious is inserted into SLOT2 then:-

• If you die, you can get your weapons back (back up).
• The main ship becomes Popolon

RC 743: Penguin Adventure is inserted into SLOT2 then:-

• Your ship is a Penguin, and energy capsules are fishes.

RC751: GRADIUS 2 is inserted into SLOT2 then:-

• Music changes
• Rotary drill 99: The Sixth Planet (Life Planet) extra stage rushes into a rotary drill.

Sixth planet (Life Planet) extra, it is in the middle of the stage

Parodius ~Tako wa chikyuu o sukuu~

At the end of stage 2 you have to play Rock Paper Scissors. If you lose, you have to play the stage again; if it is a draw you have to fight.

Bonus Stages

There are three known bonus stages.

Stage 1

When you have defeated the moai, fly under its neck.

Stage 4

At a certain point, you have to fly up out of the screen or you'll hit a dead end. Fly into the dead end instead, and go to the far upper right corner.

Stage 5

Fly under all the jumping gravestones.

Passwords

Press F1 to pause the game, type the password, press ENTER and F1 to resume the game.

All power-ups. The password literally means "everything".

• ZENBU

Always have Red Bell (Vector Laser).

• KONAMI

Always have Dark Green Bell (Up Laser).

• BUTAKO

Always have Blue Bell (Rotary Drill).

• TAKO18TH

Always have White Bell (wrap around horizontally).

• PARO

Increases the Shield durability. (note, this does not work with the ZENBU password)
