Catgirl Nuku Nuku
Marina Speaks was a UK band that made the music for the Crusader Video release of the Anime Catgirl Nuku Nuku, in Japan the Anime is known as - All Purpose Cultural Cat Girl Nuku Nuku (万能文化猫娘 Bannou Bunka Nekomusume)
The Anime was announced and shown as the AUKcon (Anime UK Convention) at Conway Hall in London back in 1994, Crusader Video had black bags you could purchase with this cassette, a small poster and a T Shirt, this was all promoting the release of the UK dubbed version of Catgirl Nuku Nuku.
This was the first anime convention I ever went to on 19th February 1994.
At the convention, the dubbed version of the anime was shown introduced by Helen McCarthy (who also played one of the characters in the film!), also the band Marina Speaks sung all of the songs from the cassette live on stage.
I remember when they went to run the video, it wouldn't play so they had to show the timed version instead (frame timing marks at the bottom of the screen).
Catgirl Nuku Nuku was the sole release from Crusader Video, a short-lived UK anime distributor consisting entirely of fans.
The mostly amateur team managed to acquire the UK rights to the show, dubbed it themselves (including there own intro and ending tunes) and released it on VHS in 1994, the company disbanded shortly afterwards.
Their single released VHS contained OVA episodes 1-3 (there were 6 episode in the original OVA series so only half the series was dubbed).
Marina Speaks - Catgirl Nuku Nuku
Original Release Date: 1994
Crusader Video UK 1994 - CV1
Only the first two tracks were used in the dubbed anime, the other tracks are other songs by the band, more like a sample album.
These songs were recorded from a cassette so they are not the best quality, they are also encoded using FLAC.
