1998 - Yamaha FZS600 Fazer Released in UK.

The Yamaha FZS600 saw its debut at the Paris Show in 1997 setting a new standard for middleweight all round bikes. At the time bikes in this class were not very exciting to ride, but newer water cooled engines with a harder chassis set up changed all that by using the super sports YZF600R Thunder Cat engine. It also featured mono-caliper front brakes the same as on the super sports bikes.
Initial release saw livery colours in Black, Gold and Red as featured here.

2002 saw a few modifications to the FZS600 Fazer the main ones being a new cowl and headlight arrangement, stainless steel exhaust, a larger 22 Litre fuel tank, (previous earlier models were 18-20 Litres). New instrument cluster and some other fine detailing to improve the overall look.

New for 2004 the Yamaha FZ6 Fazer in it's Bluestone livery colours.

2004 - Yamaha FZ6 Fazer.

A completely new model for 2004 with a new 98bhp fuel injection engine derived from the R6. The exhaust pipes now route under the seat to give a more streamlined look. This new FZ6 now also has an aluminium main frame. Other changes include a Longer swinging arm, (516.5 to 590mm), larger diameter front fork tubes, (41 to 43mm) and wider tyres (front 110 to 120, rear 160 to 180 in width). All the body parts are new, and the instrument panel is changed to digital. From now on, the half faired model is referred to as the “FZ6 Fazer” and the naked model the “FZ6”. Apart from the fairing, the Fazer model has additional equipment including a center stand and passenger grab handles.

The new upgraded model now named Yamaha FZ6 Fazer "S2" features a new diamond shape aluminium swinging arm, new monobloc 4-piston front brake calipers, aluminium rear foot rest brackets replacing the steel tube type, a new instrument panel with analog rather than dial rpm counter and new seat texture and profile. The Fazer models get a slightly redesigned cowling.
