This game has a few Gradius related bosses. The Gradius Core Boss with legs on Stage ?? when hurt enough the legs fall off and it grows arms like the Salamander version of the Core

Also near the end of the game you fly through outer space section with lines of enemies coming in at the beginning of the stage and just like Gradius, if you destroy all the enemies in those groups, you'll receive a apple.

The "Pulsating Plasma Blaster" on stage 5 is a take on the Gradius boss.
The platforms on stage 2 that are behind and in front of the waterfall were also featured in the Konami SNES game, Legend of the Mystical Ninja.
The stage 6 boss is a take on the next-to-last boss of Bucky O'Hare
