What's New

25th July 2010

Had a new set of tyres fitted last Friday to the Yamaha FZ6 Fazer S2, after some careful research I decided on the Bridgestone Battlax BT023.

The original Bridgestone Battlax BT020 front tyre last 17100 miles, while the rears (this was a second BT020) last just over 8000 miles, we will see if these new BT023's last just as long or more, still scrubbing them in so no real news yet £285 for the pair fitted.

Also the front sprocket was making some vibrations through the foot pegs that start last week, greased the chain which made it better but the vibrations were still there, after inspecting the front sprocket it was found to be badly hooked, so a complete set of front & rear sprockets and chain were fitted (Yamaha OEM).

That's 17100 miles on the original set of sprockets and chain, not too shabby, £152 for the OEM set plus £20 fitting which was a little cheaper as that had the rear wheel off for the tyre change, result..

Well the MOT and 18000 mile service is due next month, more expense.

16th April 2010

Started a new section dedicated to cleaning and detailing, not much in that section yet but will be expanded soon..

11th March 2010

I just dropped the Yamaha FZ6 Fazer off at the dealer for it's 12000 mile service, Suzuki SV Naked for the loan bike, great V-Twin fun.

Still no new boots yet but I'm still looking.

One thing I will recommend is ACF-50, great corrosion protection for the bike.

http://www.acf-50.co.uk/

20th December 2009

Moved the clothing section about quite a bit and put it into Summer & Winter sections which makes more sense, added images and some information for my new jacket, pant, gloves etc...

I still need to buy some new boots to complete the new winter outfit.

11th December 2009

As the weather is steadily getting worse, I decided to spend some of my hard earned cash on a complete new winter outfit.

After some research I bought the HG Master V Gore-Tex Pro Shell Pants Black, HG Cruise GTX Daylite Jacket and Alpinestars Jet Road GTX Gloves Black Gore-Tex.

After a few days I couldn't get on with the GTX jacket, the outside pockets (all seven of them) are not waterproof even though the jacket is fully waterproof, the jacket was too big and bulky, so I took it back changed it.

For the HG Master Gore-Tex Pro Shell Jacket Black, it's a much closer fitting jacket just like my Alpinestars T-Dyno and it's fully wind and waterproof, not cheap but I like it.

I'll be adding some pictures and info to the Clothing section soon.

7th August 2009

Fenda Extenda has now been glued on, now I can finally get around to cleaning the header pipes.

Givi box cover came in and I picked it up yesterday, the box in now fully assembled, with the new Scotchlite reflector mods.

One of the Monolock rack Givi logos has fallen off, I can't believe that they were only stuck on with double sided tape, I'll have to email Givi to see it they will post me some replacements.

23rd August 2009

Puig screen is now fitted, only ten minutes, makes the bike look quite good.

Finished the Rear Reflector Mod for the Givi E470 Box.

Just waiting for the Givi box cover now as Hein Gericke ordered the wrong box, they ordered the E4700NS not the E4700N, the E4700NS does not come with the cover at all, that's the one you would order if you were getting a painted cover, so they have ordered the plain black cover and it should be in on Tuesday.

I can't use the box without this as it's not fully waterproof.

22nd August 2009

Givi box has now been installed, updated that section with some new images.

I also decided to remove the Tail Tidy while doing the Box install as it's not worth leaving that on as you cannot see it with the rear rack installed, plus the original is larger and better with the rain I'll be riding in from now on.

19th August 2009

Puig Black Double Bubble Airflow Screen has turned up in a super size box, may fit that tomorrow if the weather's ok.

Also Puig Screen section added to the Modifications section.

Edit: Just had a phone call from Hein Gericke (19:30), my Givi rack and box are now in, I'll be picking them up from the shop tomorrow after work.

I was going just pick up the rack and mount, fit it, then pick the box up, but I may just strap the box to the bike and bring the lot home as one.

I'll have to just see how it goes.

18th August 2009

Courtesy bike was a fun ride, glad to have my trusty bike back again

The 6000 mile service went with no problems but while I was at the shop they had the Pyramid Plastics Fenda Extenda I've been looking at getting, so spent some more cash, just needs fitting now.

Added a WIP (work in progress) for the Givi Box install and Pyramid Plastics Fenda Extenda.

17th August 2009

Just dropped the Yamaha FZ6 Fazer S2 to the dealers for the 6000 mile service.

The courtesy bike they lent me is an old Suzuki GS500E (don't know the age), I must say it's not very good, vibrates quite a lot.

Should be interesting driving to work tomorrow, can't wait till I pick my bike up again.

Still no news on the screen or Givi box order but I guess it's only Monday.

14th August 2009

I've sold my car and will now be using my bike full time, because of this I've decided to buy a new screen to help reduce wind buffeting.

Ordered a Puig screen (FZ-6 S2 07-08 Puig Black Double Bubble Airflow Screen) from M & P Direct http://www.mandp.co.uk/, hopefully it shouldn't take too long to arrive.

Also ordered a Givi E470 Simply III - Black 47 Litre Top Box and fitting brackets.

28th June 2009

Redone the Knuckle Visor animation to make the frames line up better for the before and after.

22nd March 2009

It was a nice sunny day yesterday so I thought I would treat myself to some new summer motorcycle clothing.

Bought a new Alpinestars Textile T-Dyno Jacket, nice fit, the only thing I don't like is that it doesn't have a connecting trouser zip and Rev'it! Engineered Skin Factor trousers, info added to the Clothing section.

Also move a few things around in the Clothing Section.

14th March 2009

I'm now looking at the Yamaha FZ1 Fazer.

15th February 2009

I've decided to keep my Yamaha FZ6 Fazer S2 for now so the new Aprilia is off the menu.

Changed the site back to the original lighter theme as the dark theme didn't work out as well as I thought.

Also changed the site navigation to be more logical.

My Yamaha FZ6 Fazer S2 has just had it's first annual service at 3780 miles, no problems found.

26th August 2008

I've decided to go with a dark look for the site, still some small bits to change here and there.

Modifications section has some info (but no pictures) on the Evotech Tail Tidy, why don't OEM's just make the tail look good in the first place.

This mod looks quite easy for the fact that the rear lights are integrated into the rear section of the bike making the number plate holder much easier to change, excellent stuff.

25th August 2008

Well its that time again when I fancy a new bike, bike number 13 no less, my favourite number.

The bike I chose after lots of research etc... is the Aprilia Tuono 1000R Factory, I just love the look of it.

So much for the credit crunch.

I'll be reorganizing the site to take into account the new bike.

The Yamaha FZ6 Fazer S2 will be listed for sale soon.

30th June 2008

Yamaha FZ6 Fazer S2 section has been moved to the Bike History section.

Almost four months since the last update!!

The bike has done just over 2500 miles now and I love it.

I finally got around to fitting the Dual Head Light Mod loom last month (but I forgot to update the site with the information). It was quite a challenge to fit but I got there in the end, much better having two head lamps on.

Other news, I fitted some red aluminium anodise dust caps.

Also tried fitting some red wheel stripes but made a mess of it so they where removed, not as easy to fit as I thought.

A mate at work keeps going on about a track day later in the year (Brands Hatch) but I would require some leathers which I don't have, may look into some new clothing in the next few months.

29th February 2008

I've added a new section about the clothing I wear when I ride.

3rd February 2008

Images of the Bags Connection QUICK-LOCK bag fitted to the bike have been added to the Bags Connection Modifications page.

2nd February 2008

Bags Connection QUICK-LOCK has now been fitted and I'm very impressed with it.

31st January 2008

After a bit of hassle from DHL in delivering the stuff, I finally have the Bags Connection stuff, I'll be adding images later today.

First impressions of the Bags Connection items, the Bag is very well made.

The funny thing is the bike goes in for the 600 mile service tomorrow and I'll be dropping it off at the shop late today (and its windy and started raining, great).

Hopefully I will be able to fit the Connection ring at the weekend.

Added a few images of the Bags Connection stuff to the Modifications section.

28th January 2008

I just had a phone call from Motohaus, they said they now have the 'Power-Socket Yamaha 5 Screws' Bags Connection item in stock, ironically the PDA mount bracket is out of stock and will be sent at a later date but at least I will be able to use the bag and power sockets.

They will be posting it today by DHL so I should have the parcel by the end of the week.

25th January 2008

Would you believe it, the 'Power-Socket Yamaha 5 Screws' Bags Connection item is still out of stock and I keep getting fobbed off with excuses like it will be in next week, it's pointless emailing them as they just keep giving me excuses like this.

The UK Distributor (Motohaus) - http://www.motohaus.com/ have been quite useless and I cannot see how the company can still be in business, the only bonus is they have not taken the money yet for my order.

I have email the main company (Bags Connection in Germany) to see if there is a supply problem with the part, will keep you posted on the outcome.

On a brighter note I'm almost at the 600 mile service interval (517 mile at the moment) which has taken a lot longer than I thought because of the crap weather over the last few weeks (lots of very windy, wet days), so the bike all set to go in for the first service next Friday (1st February).

Bought an Oxford Spider clear tank protector but have not fitted it yet.

http://www.oxprod.com/index.php?pg=3&action=dept&id=25&pid=55&p=

When I was looking at getting the BMW F800S bike they had the option of factory installed heated grips, Yamaha have some well over price dealer fit heated grips so that was it.

After the excellent review of the Oxford Hot Grips on webBikeWorld and looking at a live display they had at the counter of my local Hein Gericke store in Welling, I may get some of these.

3rd December 2007

The 'Power-Socket Yamaha 5 Screws' Bags Connection item is still out of stock, they should be in next week which would make it almost a month since I ordered it!.

I fancied a new GPS system so I've ordered the new HTC Touch Dual Windows Smartphone, this will replace my current HP iPAQ 2210 with TomTom 6, a three years old 'pay as you go' Nokia Phone and my 20GB iPod.

Three items will be replace with just one (two if you include the Bluetooth GPS receiver), this will be much better on the bike when the Bags Connection thing arrives as its less leads and TomTom now works with the traffic service.

Clicked the rear pre load up to setting up again to 5 (from 4), feels good.

26th November 2007

The Official Yamaha Knuckle Visor has been fitted, the guide written and added to the Modifications section.

While I had the dash trim removed I changed the Auxiliary Light Bulbs to the new Osram W5W 12V 5W, brighter with a whiter light.

I hope my Bags Connection thing comes soon as one of the sections of my cargo net was melted through because of the under seat exhaust, maybe it will come later this week, they said they would email me when it comes in..

My Dual headlight mod loom is now complete, I would have fitted it today but I have a full tank of fuel and holding the tank up when full is not a good idea. I should have used it up by the weekend.

25th November 2007

Two petrol tank stickers are now gone for good, Sticker Removal guide added.

Also clicked the rear pre load up to setting 4 (3 is standard, 1 Softest & 7 Hardest), I may go up one more to 5, testing it today still doesn't feel quite right.

19th November 2007

Evotech Tail Tidy is more or less fitted, I just don't like crimp connectors so I'll be soldering the bullet connectors used for the number plate light and be finishing the job tomorrow.

18th November 2007

The Bags Connection thing is out of stock and may take two weeks to arrive.

Renamed the Modifications Bulbs section to Lighting instead as that covers more than just bulbs.

I've started making my Dual Headlight Mod lead, just a few more bits to go, it should be completed tomorrow.

14th November 2007

I'm in need of a tag bag as the small rucksack I have has a mono strap and is too short to go around my large winter coat.

So while I was searching the internet I found quite a neat looking tank bag product that attaches to a fuel filler ring, is quick release and has a power socket for charging GPS SatNav, mobile phones etc...

QUICK-LOCK Socket from Bags Connection.

http://www.bags-connection.de/

I've ordered a few bits from the UK distributor and will post reviews when they arrive.

Also I've added a new modifications section about the Bags Connection Tank Bag product.

Here is a good review of the Bags Connection product.

11th November 2007

The Sub Cowling has been fitted today, it was quite straight forward to fit which was good as it started to rain and was quite chilly in the work car park.

Updated the Sub Cowling Modifications section with a short installation guide with images and tools required.

10th November 2007

Installing the Evotech Standard Crash Bobbins was quite straight forward, images and short guide have been added to the Modification section.

Also added some bike images to the Yamaha FZ6 Fazer S2 section.

9th November 2007

The bike is mine, it was delivered a few hours ago, very nice.

Also got a phone call that my Sub Cowling and Knuckle Visors have come in so I picked them up also.

5th November 2007

New part images added to the Evotech Tail Tidy and Evotech Crash Bobbins Modification pages.

I've ordered the Sub Cowling and Knuckle Visors today, they should be in Thursday or Friday this week.

I'll be fitting them myself and will post some guides in the Modifications section.

Just to make the new bike feel welcome I have finally got around to painting the inside of my garage.

The garage has always been plain bricks on the back wall with breeze block side walls, I have painted the right side and back wall, then I ran out of paint.

Breeze blocks are not easy to paint directly on and it took six litres just for one wall.

The garage is so much brighter now with the new white walls.

4th November 2007

Added a new section on My Bike History, this lists all the bikes I have even owned, with some photo's and other details.

3rd November 2007

The Yamaha FZ6 Fazer S2 in Lava Red (best colour) is finally ordered, the dealer is delivering it by van on Friday 9th November.

The dealer I bought the bike from is quite a few miles from me (267 miles to be exact), I looked at getting a train up the them but a train (one way) cost £93.40 and would take 5 hours, they offered delivery by van for £99 which is a bargain, also I work half day on Friday so it will arrive then.

I think I got a very good deal on the new bike and I will post more details when I get it.

25th October 2007

I have the two Evotech items now, pictures will be added soon.

I may go to the bike dealers again to see if they can sweeten the deal more.

24th October 2007

Changed the layout of the Modifications section to put each modification on its own page, this make reading about a particular modification much easier.

Evotech Crash Bobbins and Evotech Tail Tidy have arrived but are at the parcel sorting office, I'll be picking them up tomorrow morning, I will add some images of them at the weekend.

Still not ordered the bike yet as I am debating if to leave it till after the Xmas holidays.

21st October 2007

Ordered the Evotech Crash Bobbins and Evotech Tail Tidy yesterday, I should have them in a few days.

Now all I need is the Lava Red bike for them to go on!

Also change the look at this section as it was looking a bit old fashioned.

13th October 2007

After a few days of thinking about which colour to chose, Yamaha Blue or Lava Red?

Yep you guest it - Lava Red - red looks great in natural day light and its my favourite colour.

Lava Red it's a bright jolly colour where Yamaha Blue and Midnight Black are dark dull colours, the 2008 model year colours are even more drab with silver, dark blue and another black.

I'll probably change my mind by tomorrow but I'm going to the stealers (dealers) after work anyway, with my luck they would have sold the Lava Red and I would have to get the Yamaha Blue.

I'll try to knocked them down on price a few more pounds than they done the other day as its 'out of season' now.

The dealer said that they could have the bike ready in 7-10 days which is longer than I would like, next Friday would be better for me but vehicle registration takes forever.

So this will be red bike number three, previous bikes where a Honda NH80 Scooter which was my first bike and a Suzuki SV650S K5 which a had for only one month.

12th October 2007

I went to a local Yamaha dealer but they where closed for half day on Wednesday so went back again on Thursday, to my surprise they have two brand new bikes in stock one Yamaha Blue and one Lava Red, great looking machines.

They did not have a demonstrator to test ride but of the two they had in stock I sat on a Yamaha Blue to try it for size, perfect size and nice seating position.

The only problem now is I have a choice to make, which colour shall I get?

The Yamaha Blue bike looks great with the black frame and everything but my favourite colour is red (I have a red/white MINI Cooper S) so the Lava Red would be good to.

I think Lava Red would be easier to see on the road as it stands out but it might be good to have a different colour for a change so maybe Yamaha Blue would be better.

My previous bike was a Suzuki SV650S K5 in red which was nice.

(See My Bike History for photos)

9th October 2007

The bike choice has now changed to a Yamaha FZ6 S2 Fazer

11th August 2007

Its a choice between the BMW F800S or the BMW F800ST

I think I will have a test drive of both

10th August 2007
